 | 8th Air Force Memorial |
In early November 2001 the museum received this new exhibit as
a gift from the 8th Air Force Memorial Museum Foundation. It is
on display in the front lobby adjacent to the Reception Desk. This
free-standing panel tells the story of the 8th Air Force in World
War II. It is topped with models of the primary aircraft of the
Mighty Eighth, the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, the Consolidated
B-24 Liberator, the Lockheed P-38 Lightning, the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt,
and the North American P-51 Mustang. Memorial exhibits exactly like
this one are being placed in aviation museums across the country
by the 8th AF Memorial Museum Foundation. The museum thanks the
Foundation for their generous gift. |
