Camp Invention at Chanute Aerospace Museum


The Chanute Air Museum is hosting the third annual “Camp Invention” which is a non-profit science enrichment camp for children entering first grade through sixth grade. Camp dates are June 23-27, 2008. Basic Camp tuition is $205 for the entire week of camp and includes all activities and snacks. There are student scholarships and discounts available. Camp Invention will run from Monday, June 23 through Friday, June 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The camp teachers are certified teachers from the Rantoul City Schools, as well as counselors for each group and museum volunteers. The curriculum embodies scientific and creative activities. This year, activities include: Saving Sludge City, an exercise that greens up and rebuilds a polluted town; Art Park, a project to design a sculpture garden; M.A.R.S., (Moving At Rocket Speed) a journey of three years to reach the planet Mars; and I Can Invent, a sessions where campers take apart common household items and use the parts to create fantasy inventions.
