The T-39 was used by the Air Force as a staff transport aircraft and served as a flying trainer. It was used at Chanute in the automatic flight control courses.

This T-39A-1-NO, S/N 62-4494, is on loan to Octave Chanute Aerospace Museum from the National Museum of the United States Airforce.
