Originally designed as a long range bomber
escort, the F-101's role was changed shortly after entering
service to that of a fighter-interceptor and photo reconnaissance
platform. The Voodoo was used during the Cuban Missile
Crisis and the Vietnam war. The F-101 was used at Chanute
AFB as a trainer in the Fuel Specialist course.
The aircraft on exhibit, F-101B-70-MC S/N 56-0273, is on
loan to Octave Chanute Aerospace Museum from the National
Museum of the United States Airforce.
