Holiday Happening
The Chanute Air Museum's first holiday fund-raiser, the Festival of Trees 2006, will jump start the season in Rantoul, Illinois, on Saturday, November 18, 2006, beginning with a gingerbread house design contest. It will continue through December 2, 2006, when it will close with a silent auction of 30 award winning trees decorated by local sponsors. The Festival will include a holiday recipe contest, local musical entertainment, food concessions, and an art competition for children providing many opportunities for community involvement.
The Museum, which is primarily volunteer-staffed, will use the funding from the Festival to expand its educational programs for youth, to provide increased scholarships for attendance at the science and aviation camps offered each summer.
